How long is it since you have had a qualified Beauty Therapist assess your skin and the products you use? For many, the answer will be “not since i was a pimply teenager” or “never”.

The issue this brings is that so often our skin was completely different back then, think pimples, congestion and breakouts, to how is is today. Products recommended for skin health in your late teens & early 20’s predominantly focused on balancing oil to prevent congestion, and many people incorrectly carry these routines into their 30’s 40’s and beyond.

After the age of 20, there is diminished functioning of the sweat and oil glands meaning that products focused on balancing oil production are probably further reducing the oils essential to protecting your skins health. Add to this the fact that a person produces about 1% less collagen (which provides skin firmness) in the skin each year, a decreased formation of gycosaminoglycans (the little beauties responsible for keeping our skin hydrated), environmental and sun exposure and we have very different skin needs to that of our former years.

The products that we use throughout our life will change with every milestone, take a look at your current daily skin care ritual…..is it in need of a ‘freshen-up’?

Take a deep breath, relax and love your life,

Cheers Suse
